Three new Inductees to the Excellence Hall of Fame

The 2017 Excellence Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held in the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin, Ireland, yesterday evening.

During the gala dinner, three outstanding people became members of the Hall of Fame:

• Don Haider, Professor Emeritus of Strategy, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University
• Eileen McDonell, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Penn Mutual
• Martin Naughton, Founder & Supervisory Board Chairman, Glen Dimplex Group

The ceremony was an international event with attendees from 16 countries.

About the Inductees

Don Haider is the only academic ever to be named both a Congressional Fellow and a White House Fellow. He has been Northwestern’s Professor of Strategy for over 40 years, interrupted on occasion by public service. At one time he ran for Mayor of Chicago as he felt the people “deserved better”. His main interests are the management of public and non-profit organizations, public finance and economic development.

Eileen McDonnell studied nursing before changing to mathematics and computers. After starting her career in technology, she moved into insurance and soon started breaking records. In 2010, she became the first women ever appointed President of Penn Mutual and in 2011 she was made its CEO. She was Drexel University’s 2016 Business Leader of the Year and is a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Martin Naughton is one of Ireland’s most successful entrepreneurs. He grew a small start-up with a staff of less than 10 people into a world leader with manufacturing plants in Europe, Asia, North America and Oceania. In 2015, he was knighted by HRH the Prince of Wales and in 2016 he was made an Officier de la Legion d’Honneur by France.
